The Last Tick of The Heart
As I stood out on the porch this morning speaking to God, my eyes were once again opened. After my prayer time, as usual, the Spirit began to speak to my mind. I was gazing out on the trees and listening to the birds. I watched a squirrel gathering for its nest and saw birds gathering for their nests.
I understand there will come a day when I have seen my last winter. With the comfort of the knowledge that there is a time of rest for all creation, there will come a day when I have witnessed the last glory of the newness of the dawning of Spring and the new life it brings.
There will come a day when I have seen my last Summer and the maturing of the life that Spring brought forth, and there will come a time I have seen my last Autumn and the preparation for the slumber it brings.
A day when I draw my last breath and the final beat of my heart comes forth—in that very instant I know in my heart I will be with my Lord Jesus. I have witnessed in my life the miracle of the new creature; the great gift and joy of salvation.
I was given a choice: to either repent of my sin and cry out for the salvation of our dear Savior Jesus Christ and then spend eternity with him in paradise, or in that final moment of my last breath, the last tick of my heart, the next realization I would have is the torment of Hell itself and that, last for eternity.
Have you known someone who believed in God but was never saved? Maybe they had an understanding that there was a creator but refused to take the time to understand and receive the gift of His only begotten Son. I have known those people. I know some people like that now.
This knowledge burdens my heart terribly—to know that a person could understand the greatness of God the creator and yet spend eternity in hell for allowing their ego to overcome them, for their refusal to learn and give themselves over to the forgiveness He provided.
None of us know when that last moment will come. Some may be fortunate enough to have an idea of when in general it may happen, and I say fortunate because that knowledge provides times of worship and preparation of the minds of those around us. But no one knows the exact moment until it comes! This is why the Scripture tells us to be ready in season and out.
We are not guaranteed the day nor the hour! Friend, you may not have another moment. This is why it is so important to run to the Lord as fast as you can without hesitation! Jesus said, “No one comes to the Father except by Me.”
Dear people, you don’t know when you have seen the last newness of Spring, the last Summer, Fall, or Winter. You just don’t know!
Run to your Savior Jesus and receive the gift of everlasting life in paradise. Run to Him before you don’t have another opportunity!
I pray that all who read this will be compelled by the Holy Spirit to ask for forgiveness and to accept the gift of the atonement of our sins through God’s only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
”My Dear Friend, when grief presses you to the dust, worship there.”
-Charles Spurgeon
