I Think, but God Judges

If my thoughts and opinions are based and in alignment with the Word of God, then I can have some peace in them. However, if my thoughts and opinions are based on my wants and the way I think things should be, there will be a common realization of being wrong!

Proverbs 14:11-12, 11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish. 12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

As believers, our thoughts must be based on experience in comparison with the Word. Without that comparison, we risk becoming wicked in our selfish desire instead of obedient children of our Creator!

For me, I have a fear of being incorrect, but a bigger fear of allowing myself to become intentionally wrong! I have heard many say, “Don’t judge me.” I understand the frustration in that they believe no one has the right to judge them. This is essentially true.

I have no authority to judge anyone, however, I do have the God-given authority to know sin and speak against it in the context of Scripture. As a matter of fact, as a follower of God I am commanded to do exactly that! Ezekiel 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, ‘Thou shalt surely die,’ and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way to save his life, the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. I certainly do not want to be responsible because someone never heard God’s view on 6sin!

Judgement lies in the hand of Christ—God the Father gave that authority to Christ Jesus, and not to me. If I speak of the teachings of Holy Scripture that point out what God has deemed sin, I am not judging; I am only proclaiming truth, and in that, I have absolved myself in the eyes of God of responsibility by informing.

It is the authority of Heaven that makes the judgement, not a man. Many have heard, “Hate the sin and love the sinner.” Yes, this should be our way, and by loving the sinner we must inform them, just as we need to be informed, in accordance with Scripture.

However, in the judgement of God, it is the sinner that will spend eternity in Hell, and not the sin!

We can think a lot of things for sure, I feel the one thing we must keep in mind is that God is the authority, it is He who judges and my thoughts should be in alignment with His according to the word.
